The Movement Base brand film. Two dancers. Then and now.

A studio running for twenty years. A story that had never been told.

The Movement Base is one of Essex's most established Pilates studios. Over two decades of expert instruction, world-class equipment, and a loyal member community.

The business was running well. But the branding had not kept pace with what the studio had become. Qissa was brought in to find the story. What the Brand Story Session surfaced changed the entire direction of the work.

1

A thriving studio. A stale presence. And something important hiding in plain sight.

The Movement Base had been building for over twenty years. A loyal member base, a reputation for quality instruction, a beautiful studio space. The business itself was in good health.

But the social presence was thin. The visual identity had not kept pace with what the studio had become. There was a gap between the quality of the experience inside the building and what was visible to anyone looking from outside.

Qissa was engaged to assess the studio's narrative position and develop a production strategy. As part of the standard Brand Story Session process, the work began where it always begins: a structured conversation about the people behind the business.

That first conversation changed everything.

2

Two West End ballet dancers.
Hiding in plain sight.

The Brand Story Session surfaced something the studio had never put on record. The owners, a couple who built the business together - were once classically trained ballet dancers who performed on the stages of the West End.

They transitioned from ballet to Pilates as a natural progression of their shared love of movement and discipline. Hence the name: The Movement Base.

None of this existed anywhere on their platforms. Two decades of passion and personal history, completely invisible to every client who walked through the door.

Most businesses think they need more material. What they actually need is to find the story sitting inside the business that nobody has ever told. Brand Story Session is designed to find it. At The Movement Base, it was there from the very first conversation.

Six outputs. One coherent story.

4

Two dancers. Then and now. One film.

The finished film weaves archival West End stage footage from the owners' twenties alongside present-day movement sequences shot at the studio. No narration. No explanation. Just the visual arc of two people who built their lives around movement, told through movement.

It is the kind of film that is only possible when the story is found before the camera comes out.

Element 1

Archival Footage

West End stage performances from the owners' twenties. Sourced, cleared, and integrated into the edit.

Element 2

Present-Day Movement

Pilates and freestyle dance sequences shot at the studio. The same bodies, the same love of movement, twenty years on.

Element 3

No Narration

The story is entirely visual. Music and movement carry it. No voiceover, no titles, no explanation needed.

5

A story that
moved people.

All photography and video was deployed across the website, social media, and paid advertising. The visual identity of the studio was elevated overnight, a new aesthetic that finally matched the quality of what The Movement Base had always been.

The brand film landed hardest. Existing members who had trained at the studio for years watched it and discovered their instructors' story for the first time.

A studio running for twenty years. A story that had never been told. Until now.

Still from the modern segment of the film, of TMB founder Glen performing a dance routine.

"You've captured our journey perfectly. It really shows who we are."

GLENN, CO-OWNER - THE MOVEMENT BASE

The story was always there.

Two West End ballet dancers who built a Pilates studio together over twenty years. A name — The Movement Base, that already contained the whole story. It just needed someone to ask the right question in a Brand Story Session conversation, and the commitment to build a film around what came out.
